House of Guinness is currently taking over our lives, group chats and the Netflix Top 10. The historical drama series, which tells the story of the Guinness family following the death of their patriarch, has left us with a lot of questions. Like, how much is the real family worth now? Where was the series filmed? And crucially, what is the illness Anne has during the series?

Early on in House of Guinness, following the death of their father, the four Guinness siblings—Arthur, Edward, Anne and Benjamin—discover what has been left for them in their father's will. Anne, who is already married, finds out she has been given nothing from her family's wealth and so she turns her days into caring for the ill and poor.

Her storyline also sees her get pregnant and then have a subsequent miscarriage. She is often seen as ill throughout the series, such as when she mentions tiredness after just walking up the stairs. However, while many viewers may have presumed this to be related to her pregnancy, it turns out Anne actually had a different illness, that the real Anne Guinness had. Here's what you need to know about it.
